My overall impression

Take this with a grain of salt because I left Diary thinking it was a comedy. I gathered that it was not after enquiring around. Whatever. I was cracking up throughout, I may have even slapped both my knee and that of my companion who could not stop laughing. It was a small house ans we were all laughing. What can I say? I love dark humour and this humour is dark. The main character steals the show as he somehow manages to take a character who is already low to even lower depths with his substance fueled behavior ala Trees Lounge. In fact, I was so enrapt with the titular character that I felt cheated whenever any of the other characters intruded upon what a companion described as “his extended private moment”. It could have been a closer to a solo show-and not because the other actors were not good, they were, but we just wanted more, more, and more freakazoid. His physicality, facial expressions, and vocalizations were spot on-we all have known a @#%* like this at one point or another and it’s great to see him spiraling in his own little hell for your amusement. I felt the script could have been a little tighter because the author makes strong points that need little padding. However, go see it! I have no idea why this play is getting small houses. You are robbing yourself of a good time.
