An all around impressive command of telling the story of an almost forgotten comedic genius. Speaking, dancing, singing. A one man show to compare all other one man shows to. ... full review

The show was about a comedian whom had a story to tell the world which was very well told by the imagery, music and acting. Throughout the show I was immersed in this engaging story of someone I didn't know very well but found myself wanting to know more with each bit of the presentation.... full review

Out of the gate to and through to the finish line, Allan Murray's The Layers of Tom Lehrer is a show so electric-I saw it twice! A first. Opening and closing nights. Murray pays an ardent tribute to mathematician, satirist, singer-songwriter, and musician Tom Lehrer, with Adam Sartain's voice-over as his agent. The show is an elegant warp-speed ride of a genius' inner world, humility, humanity, showbiz career ups and downs, and his meteoric brilliance in the scope of an hour. Murray is the character. In tune and on time. I wish the show ran longer than The Hollywood Fringe Festival because I can hardly wait to watch Allan Murray on stage again.... full review

Allan is a fantastic song and dance man. And a great actor, he really kept the audience engaged, and the show has many moving moments. I’m not a theatre person, but I loved this, it was like watching a movie and a concert of comical songs. I’m not as familiar with Lehrer as I should be BUT I do like "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and I totally got that so much his story took place in the same time period. ... full review

It was Friday the 13th. Imagine if you will…at a small venue in the big city of Los Angeles, a group of locals and some awesome dude who flew in from Wisconsin gathered for an hour of fun as the delightfully talented Allan Murray paid tribute to the one and only Tom Lehrer! I thoroughly enjoyed Allan’s musical homage to Tom; from Pigeons in the Park (my favorite) to Vatican Rag and everything in between, Allan did a spectacular job highlighting the career of the mathematician-turned-musical genius through song on the piano, along with some clever tap dancing too! Bravo!... full review
