‘Polite Racism’ was simple, yet the most awkward and thought-provoking, and simply relate-able, of the five pieces. ‘Brittle Trombone’ was weirdly fun – one of those sketches that makes you wonder ‘why the hell did he think of that?’ And ‘Fantasy Football’ was just a hoot.
What I didn't like
Some of the actors seem to wander aimlessly in some of the sketches. The play is called ‘Straight White Men’ – is it a coincidence that this happens, in particular, to some of the women in the play?
My overall impression
A fun, funny show! Not altogether perfect – some of the plays are a bit uneven, and not sure if certain actors were under-rehearsed or simply underwritten – but worth the ticket price for the plays that were really hysterical! ‘Polite Racism’ might be worth the price of the ticket alone… but if you’re in a really silly mood, throw in the last piece as well, as I laughed my ass off.
