My overall impression
When I bought my tickets I had no idea that I might be part of the show despite the fact that the title clearly says “audience participation”. I assumed some type of call and response from the safety of my seat- wrong. The gentleman story tellers invite audience members up on stage to choose a topic from a bowl and then the show begins. I chose the topic “guns”. As I stood on stage, a little nervous at first, Niemi began to tell me an adventurous tale of young love involving-of course-a gun and because we opted for an X-rated show, nudity. Soon I became a participant in the tale nodding along, commenting and making suppositions when asked. Once my turn was over I watched other audience members receive the same treatment alternately from Niemi and Lieberman- sometimes they help to act out the story, other times they became a character of the story and provided additional dialogue at other times they just enjoyed the tale. It was fascinating to watch the reactions of the participants and their reactions were a testament to the power of the storytelling. Because of the number of available topics, the bowl was full, the show is different every night and worth seeing more than once. Quite moving.
