All of the songs were solid, but my favorites were Lady Macbeth, Gertrude, Ophelia (aka, all the sad ones), Olivia and Viola. So that comes out to roughly half of the songs.
I’m not much of a singer or musician, but it’s clear to me that Laura is very skilled with both her voice and the piano. Not only that, but she embodied each character so well that, even though stylistically some of the songs were similar, they all carried radically different energies.
What I didn't like
Some of the lyrics used for the sake of rhyming were on the verge of being cliche/filler.
I loved the Lady Macbeth song so much I just wanted more of it!
This is a really, really small quibble in the scheme of things, but I was longing for the finale tune to be more of a medley of what came before. The song as is was still very good and it’s more of a personal desire rather than an issue with the music.
My overall impression
Laura is a fantastic musician, but moreover I was very impressed with how she boiled down the essence of each character she covered in her songs. It was a fun and moving time and I recommended to the Shakespeare nerd that likes to bop their head.
