Laura is a fantastic musician, but moreover I was very impressed with how she boiled down the essence of each character she covered in her songs. It was a fun and moving time and I recommended to the Shakespeare nerd that likes to bop their head.... full review

Laura Jo is truly an incredible composer, pianist, and performer. With each song, Laura Jo really embodies each character. This hour-long performance flies by – each song keeps you present and immersed in this character's life and story and Laura Jo's compositions perfectly reflect all the goals, dreams, fears, etc of Shakespeare's Heroines. If you ever tell a Shakespeare buff that you don't "get" Shakespeare, they'll tell you 'when it's performed well, you'll understand it.' Well, Laura Jo performs it well... so if you're not a huge Shakespeare buff, you'll still enjoy this delightful, impressive, mesmerizing, entertaining piece of theatre. If you *ARE* a Shakespeare buff, you'll enjoy it even more! I know it's making me want to revisit t... full review

In this case the conceit lies in the pov from each original song she performs. Each one has a female character from the works of Shakespeare, from Gertrude (in Hamlet) to the Dark Lady of the Sonnets and beyond. Along the way, we experience enough passion, humor, tragedy, silliness and the like for a full play. Rosalynd's giddy fan-girling over Orlando, Ophelia's soul-deep sorrow before she goes into the water, Countess Olivia's sultry invitation to the "boy" Caesario...honestly, the show left me wanting more and more and more! Not simply because... full review
