My overall impression
Angel’s Flight is an over-the-top, quick-witted, laugh-out-loud play that captures the essence of old Hollywood. ‘Rodger Rabbit’ meets ‘Reefer Madness’… and casually throw a little ‘The Maltese Falcon’ in the mix and you’ve got an extremely clever satire, Angel’s Flight.
Between the writing and actors, the classic Hollywood cadence was captured so well, and shed light on the over dramatic, yet very tasteful entertainment that had our attention through the ages. A classic, that any actor, writer, theatre-goer, movie buff or general audience member can appreciate.
The writing by Benjamin Schwartz and Matt Richie, had the audience clapping and laughing throughout the entire show. ‘Laugh-out-loud’ is truly an understatement. The comedic timing, misogynist comments, and over-use of puns had me present in the moment, and excited for the minutes to come, and with a very large smile on my face.
It was very clear that passion and heart was put into this piece, and all for the mere fun of being able to share a story with the audience. I was thrilled to walk out of a show with a very happy heart, and excited for the success of the show.
A job well done. Thank you for the MANY laughs, and BIG smile.
One thing is guaranteed: a cheek workout.
