"Charivari in Voyeurville" hits the rare Fringe trifecta: It's ambitious, it fulfills its ambitions, and it's entertaining as hell....

Not to be Missed
From start to finish, I was completely enthralled with this performance. The movement, the emotion, the masterful storytelling. House of Rabbits is the heartbeat, driving the show forward. The wonderful cast of characters drawing you into this forbidden and exciting world. This is a tale of the beautiful and the grotesque. Of the accepted and the unknown. And it will stay with you long after. ...

Before this show begins you are cleverly drawn into the premise; that lust, love, judgement, and rejection are seasons to the human condition - and they all have a cost. Luckily for us the cost is accompanied by a veritable delight of wit, gyrating beauty, riveting music, and a narrative that follows us afterwards, hanging on us; like the perfume of a lover. The blending we witness of smart and very accomplished self-styled 'vaudcore' music with contemporary dance is wonderfully underpinned by classic, almost fairytale, storytelling that both pays homage to its influences and paves the way for great theatre. A++ ...

Overtly and strangely sexy, with an intriguing story capped by amazing music from House of Rabbits that brought everything together. Great production, fantastic performances, and a tempo that keeps you engaged throughout. Loved it!...

WOW! I LOVED this show. It was one of my favorite plays that I've seen, not just in the Fringe but in Los Angeles. The movement was evocative and so beautifully executed by the (gorgeous) cast. House of Rabbits gave the show it's backbone. The music was visceral and emotional. The music, the movement, the lights came together to make something different, something sexy, and something beautiful to behold. I HIGHLY recommend this production. ...

Art is beautiful, and frequently, good art is exhausting. After I left Charivari in Voyeurville, I was certainly exhausted, but in the exhilerated and tremendously satisfied way that only art and a few other worthwhile activites can promise.
The premise of the show by itself is a little dizzying: I've described it as what would happen if The Decemberists had really, really rough sex with System of a Down and the child produced from this union studied under Cirque Du Soliel, which I think gets across the aesthetic, if nothing else. It's a carnival, a cabaret, a vaudevillian exploration of some pretty profound ideas about sex, society, and the way the world works at it's best and it's worst.
Yes, there's more going on here than it appears wh...

Deserves Extended run!
6/25 Worth SRO! A blender full of various theatrical styles that sounds horrible together but tastes delicious!
- A live original Rock & Roll music score? check
- Operatic/punk rock vocals by a gifted and versatile singer that serves as Greek chorus? check
- Jaw droppingly sexy acrobatic/dancers in masks? check
Amazing! My mouth was agape in awe on so many levels - a few minor tweaks and this show (already deserving of an extended run) should move to a bigger house for an open run in Vegas or Off Broadway!
My problem with the show is the relentless amazing work. I know, sounds crazy, but the show would benefit with a few more quiet moments to make us appreciate the next big number - "too much good stuff" as it were. The "book"...

excellent music
Was able to score some tickets last Wednesday to "House of Rabbits' Charivari in Voyeurville" at this year's Fringe Fest (no small feat because it was sold out every night) and didn't know what to expect as sometimes the Hollywood buzz machine is based on what actor is appearing as opposed to the merits of the production ("oh my GOD! Isn't that SO AND SO?") Well I need not have worried. "Voyeurville" was a white knuckle ride full of amazing choreography, well written and humorous subject matter, and incredible music with a kick ass band featuring a take no prisoners lead singer who seamlessly alternated between the roles of narrator and court jester. In fact at times I wasn't exactly sure or didn't exactly understand WHAT I was seeing- but ...
