I must say this is a great collection of short plays. Through different lenses, I can learn a lot about connections and communication. These play an important role in human connection. We need to talk and discuss with each other. So that we can know the need and desire of each one. Communication can help us resolve the issues. Talk to each other softly and stand on their point of view and situations. That can help you understand their thoughts and behavior. Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. I went to the opening performance on Saturday of "5 Sirens: Beware of Rocks" and was thoroughly impressed with the plays these ladies wrote. I felt a strong connection to some aspects of a couple of the plays, which made them even more enjoyable. Some giggles, a couple bursts of laughter, and quite a few "Yes!" realizations hit me while watching. Especially Sarah Dzida's play entitled "Don't Panic" because I have definitely 'been there, done that' and the emotions expressed by the actors were spot on! ... full review

In one hour, 5 SIRENS takes you through a panoply of genres - from realism, to montage, to science fiction, with a tweak of 50 Shades, and some madness on the 405 in between. One of the delights of the Fringe is experiencing the range of stories that performance makers want to tell. Excellent lighting and sound design, some great performances, and of course wonderful writing on display from the five playwrights who work is featured. The pieces are so different that everyone is guaranteed to find something they love. I was pleasantly surprised that my favorite wound up being one I would not have expected based on the description. And I enjoyed that most of them were capable of mixing in some heartfelt, deep emotions along with humor (or vice versa).... full review

Five for the price of one! As someone who has dealt with life-altering illness my favorite was probably Autumn McAlpin's raw portrayal of a woman facing down certain losses. I also loved the others--from aliens to sex therapy to baseball--all packed in an hour. An easy one to recommend!... full review
