Thad Shafer is a brilliant, brave, funny performer. Each date offers something original and specifically it’s own to the audience. There’s hyperbole and over the top moments, as well as subtlety and nuance. There are reflections on fame and privacy, and private moments of pain, and awe for the girl in the title. It’s a sweet show that covers a lot of ground for all it’s silliness while still somehow giving a respectful nod to the country sweetheart who bakes cookies and gives us catchy pop hits about love. Great writing on the part of all the female playwrights.
