My overall impression

I always wondered why I spent so much of my high school and college years studying 400-year-old plays in outdated English instead of learning real life skills such as how to do taxes, write cover letters or balance a checkbook, and now I have my answer: so I could understand the mad genius that is “Romeo and Juliet In Hell.” Writer/director Matt Ritchey skewers the Bard so effectively that this reviewer was able to enjoy the show despite his beautiful wife spending half of it making out with some dude. (Romeo, or something.) In a small space with minimal sets/costumes, the cast of twelve tells a story we all know in a hilarious and touching way unlike anything that came before it. I am proud to have my wife be a part of this insanely talented cast. Seriously though, do they have to kiss that much? They’re in love. We get it.
