Review by ERIN MOORE

June 17, 2013

My overall impression

This short 20 minute play is definitely not for everyone. Actors, Alexa Giuffre and Sean Brugos fully commit to their roles as tortured prisoners and both give great performances. The play itself gives little exposition and very little time to develop any sort of relationship with the characters. I’m still trying to figure out what the intended message of the play is, why was it written, why are we watching it, why are we supposed to care about these characters? I spent most of the short show expecting there would be a moment at the end that brought everything into clarity but sadly that didn’t happen. What we are left with are fragments of a common and somewhat overused plot line often found in movies and television. I would love to see this piece developed further, give the characters some background, make us care about them or let this be the start of the show and show us how these 20 minutes influence what happens next.

LA’s premier bouffon troupe: a motley crew of miscreants have crawled out of the gutter to make you question reality. Our feats of physical and existential comedy defy explanation and provoke unfettered, eery glee. Come see what's behind the curtain.
