Please, please, PLEASE go see this show. From the moment you enter the room, there is movement, and you get the feeling that the performance has already begun. For the performers, and yourself, safe is your seat. The theater is hot, but the performers are HOTTER. I can't be sure what you will see at Wet The Hippo with it's "improv, sort of" nature, but if it is anything like last night's 7:30 performance, it will the most honest work you will see of any show at the Fringe this year. I could have enjoyed this work for another hour, no problem.... full review

This show was absurd!! You definitely have to go there with them but if you choose to you will find yourself on a delightfully silly ride. A melding of clown, movement and improvisation, John Gilkey coaches the characters throughout the performance as if he were a conductor. The actors give it their all and are pushed to the max. At the end of it all, I felt refreshed by the pure wackiness. ... full review

This blew me away! It's a show in the most basic sense of the word. This talented and striving troupe led by John in performance invite you to join them as they show you everything they've got. Constantly striving towards honesty and 'truth' in performance, connection and exploration. Improvised but structured. Outrageous but honest. This is not the kind of 'show' you are expecting. It's a different and exciting form of performance. I loved it.... full review

I would never have gone to this show had I not seen their bit at the Fringe Cabaret. Though filled with non sequiturs and with no clear storyline, the cast of WET THE HIPPO ran on their total commitment and complete trust and ability to listen to each other. I was totally engaged the entire time, and even the bits I had seen before were still hysterically funny! A must see for the Fringe!... full review

Best thing I've seen in the theatre since I can remember. Most creative, weird, funny, poignant "performances"! NOT like regular improv which is sometimes boring and flat; I was breathless from laughing. ... full review

One of those shows I could watch over and over. This troupe of actors truly brings improv/sketch to the next level, inviting the audience into their weird and wonderful wedding of absurd and naturalistic scenes. My favorite of the Fringe fare thus far. Not to be missed!... full review

Claire Titelman invited me (full disclosure) I loved what she and Michael did. Natalie could be the next Sarah Val (Vowell). And the guy (in the Free Bradley Manning shirt the night I was there) he's the whole package. We're all going to say "we saw him when..."... full review

Hate to be the one guy that didn't love the show as people around me seemed to be enjoying themselves but I found it annoying. The actors were fine but I felt like I was watching an actors workshop or a rehearsal. The director (John I think) would walk up in stage and give directions to the actors as if he was coaching them privately. The problem is, we all could hear him. The director constantly got up, commanded people around the stage and would interrupt the actors as they were trying to improv. He was too in control of things. There were three actors that stood out to me. The two girls and Alec. The one girl who was drooling because she hadn't been kissed, reminded me of an S&L character. She was very funny and I personally think she... full review
