This was a good show albeit not great. It reminded me of aging relatives in India and aging members of the community here in the diaspora. As times change and children, grandchildren, and members of the community become embroiled in their own lives, members of our golden generations are faced with loneliness and the need to rediscover the vitalities of life. Unbeknownst to everyone though, the more virulent generation makes its own steady march towards embodying some, if not all, of what the golden generation stood for and eventually they become shadows emulating their predecessors. ... full review

I thought of my grandmother Addie Mae Brown as I watched this ever-changing but full-of-love relationship between a grandmother and her granddaughter. This play is a mighty and much-needed gem that is beautifully written by playwright Jean Lennox Toddie. It features a rarely explored cross-generational relationship and validates the importance of us needing to see a wide range of relationships and ages onstage, where women have the opportunity to explore their inner emotional lives and have the space and projects to express them.... full review

LATE SUNDAY was a compelling short two person play that made me want more….or better yet, could be used as a springboard for a South Indian “Tuesdays with Morrie” series. The cultural and religious generational differences could be explored endlessly with a wider scope - LATE SUNDAY certainly has a cultural twist to aging as Grandma Padma remembers her past reincarnations - certainly not the usual perspective for aging in the West! Brava to Vee Kumari and S. Malik for opening up this important grandmother to granddaughter dialogue.... full review

A beautiful story about the bond between a granddaughter and grandmother, showing us that life can begin and begin again, no matter the age. Vee Kumari and Sanchita Malik are excellent in their portrayals of Padma and Libby. Malik shines with her beautiful vulnerability on stage, as she addresses the audience quite a bit and invites us further in to the story. Kumari entertains with her natural comedic skill and glimmers with playfulness. The play runs just over 30mins which makes it the perfect runtime as you are fitting other shows into your daily schedule! ... full review

An older Indian woman, understanding, producing, and performing through the work of a seasoned female playwright, drew me into the story. The interplay between a feisty grandmother and her emotional granddaughter filled the stage with refreshing energy. The dialogue was entertaining, and above all, Vee Kumari's natural and endearing portrayal of the grandmother kept me smiling throughout. This is a delightful show at the Fringe that you don't want to miss.... full review

This was a lovely play full of insights for people of all ages. The two characters span the generations - a grandmother and granddaughter - and the issues that they're dealing with as they both explore new stages in their lives. It is especially a testament to aging, and to the challenges but also opportunities it presents. At the end of it you really want to go off on your own adventure and see where life takes you.... full review
