The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort

What a beautiful story, and performance! The Women of Lockerbie tastefully uses a real-life tragedy as a backdrop to tell a fictional, yet a truly human story about loss and how we wish to preserve the lives of our loved ones. I found myself relating to the pain of the main character as a mother who also has a son of a similar age, which was only complemented by the effective acting on display. Likewise, I'm sure that many audiences can find themselves connecting to this story in a similar way. T... full review

Still Life of an Orange and Other Puppet Parables

'Still Life of an Orange' was a truly unique and refreshing experience. It was far beyond most of the other Fringe shows as each story or fable took an abstract approach. Having a puppeteer treat very mundane objects like an orange as a character as well as creating a narrative through this concept, was inventive and fun. Despite the bizarre nature of the performance, the play never felt forced or unengaging. In fact, I'd say the contrary because it was hard to tell what would happen next with a ... full review

Skin Jobs

Brilliant writing. It touches on the subject of controversial issues and the effects it places on the actors involved in it. The portrayal of the two friends' conflict was so real. Skinjob delicately addresses differing viewpoints through both characters while taking the biases of social status in mind. Kerri and Viv are right in ways while also wrong in others too. The writers spared no expense on this 30-minute show through a rich narrative. I enjoyed every second of it. ... full review

The Oz Monologues

Imaginative, beautiful and bold. The beautiful graphics of the video projection and the immaculately detailed costumes did a great job of taking me back to the land of Oz again. The characters felt familiar and the structure of the show immediately soaked me into their perspective. It was easy to get immersed in the world provided in the play.... full review

Balls'ON

In our lives, it is a rare and lucky occasion to meet a friend who will hold your hand when you're in need. Balls'on gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling knowing about the director and the unfortunate time of his passing, and Katt who chose to continue where he left off. The play takes on a vulgar, entertaining tone augmented by Katt's fantastic acting ability which engaged the audience throughout. What a truly outstanding solo performance. This is among the top of the Fringe shows I've seen and I... full review

Many Trump Refugees in One Body

A fascinating story only made possible by Lyralen's acting. She was a very entertaining and dynamic actor and knowing her actual history and experiences in life, her performance was all the more meaningful. While she shares a very disturbing and difficult past, Lyralen manges to depict a brave, determined woman who refuses to let the world take her down. ... full review

My Mom Died When I Was 14 (A Comedy)

What an entertaining show! The way the show is constructed made for an interactive and unique experience. Matthew Gudernatch's usage of the video screen, prop, puppet, guitar, and the song felt very well prepared to express the story they wanted to tell. While the subject is heavy and sad, Matthew's acting brings levity to the play. While the respect for his mother is still present, he can seamlessly shift into a comedic tone in the next through clever dialogue. ... full review

Meanwhile, Back at the Super Lair

Modern media is somewhat oversaturated with superhero movies so having to see a premise like this was really interesting. It reminded me my favorite animated movie 'Incredibles' as the "superheroes" in this play hold mundane, familial problems and conversations such as fighting over tv remote, who peed on the toilet seat etc. This made the characters feel very relatable despite their unique backgrounds.... full review

Pervert

I'm so glad that I was invited to see this play as I thoroughly enjoyed almost every element of it. I absolutely love the cast as each one of them had their own important role in the plot while being driven by realistic goals. The three actors never felt forced into showing this serving their character's intent brilliantly. As an old East Asian saying says: if you cannot rule the family, you cannot rule the nation. This play shows the danger of having emotionally distant people as powerful leader... full review

Ain't That America

Brilliant script, stage direction, and cast. I haven't been this captivated in two-handler for a very long time. Because the play takes a contrary approach to left-wing issues, the story was unique, surprising and vivid. The intensity of how they addressed this perspective and how it was ingrained into the story made for an extremely profound and immersive experience, especially during the last act. The actors felt grounded and were very talented. At one point, I forgot that I was sitting in a th... full review
