AMERICAN CONSPIRACY takes a story most of us know and expounds upon it and subverts it in engaging and unexpected ways. The assassination attempt is the backdrop, but this is really the story of disparate characters that feel trapped by 'something', desperately looking for ways out. KEEPING UP WITH THE PROZOROVS

I went into this with limited expectations. Firstly, I am NOT a Chekhov fan. I don't doubt his genius, but his writing has never made much of an impact on me. Secondly, I am NOT a Kardashian fan in any way, shape, or form. So, as I sauntered into the McCadden Theatre at 11:45pm for a midnight performance of a show that combined the two, I did so with the knowledge that I might be setting myself up for disappointment. Generation ME the Musical

What makes "Generation Me" work is the energy and urgency with which the cast conveys the material. I mean - it's not like we necessarily needed another play or musical about suicide in high school. After "Bare: A Pop Opera" and "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead" (both of which are borrowed from in this piece), the ground seems to have been covered.
