Why did the chicken cross the road?

james ferrero · June 27, 2019 certified reviewer
An existential trip through words, Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road is an excellent example of what a Fringe show can be. Silly, absurd, intriguing, and ultimately surprisingly emotional, the actors are all committed to the strange world they inhabit as they trust the deftly written script made up of those very words.... full review

Wigfield is a perfect escapist comedy during Fringe filled with top-notch performances from skilled sketch comics, an absurdly entertaining story, and an infectious energy that keeps you laughing throughout.... full review

A Time Traveler's Guide to the Present

Doug Harvey takes you on a trip through time and space but never leaves you behind. Part science, part comedy, but at the root of it all is heart. The love we have for others, the emotional struggle of memories, and the need to survive help make this piece so much more. One of the best solo pieces you'll see at Fringe this year.... full review

REVENGE OF THE ROOTBEER: The Sequel To Night Of The Rootbeer

james ferrero · June 20, 2019 certified reviewer
The Thanos of Hollywood Fringe. It snapped its fingers a year ago and nothing has been the same. When we can figure out a way to go back in time and stop this, I pray we do. But until then, the sequels are inevitable. And I fear, it is only beginning.... full review

POCKETS

Robot Teammate knocks it out of the park again with Pockets, a musical romp with terrifically staged numbers and songs that's never afraid to pokes fun at itself and the genre as well. It's amazing how much they pack into one hour to create an effective story, memorable characters, and references galore.... full review

Four Clowns Presents: Shakedown at the Dusty Spur!

A super fun show with talented comedic actors that pull bits from places you had no idea were coming, Shakedown at the Dusty Spur is a terrific escape when you need something funny on the Fringe-scape.... full review

45 Milligrams

james ferrero · June 17, 2019 certified reviewer
45 Milligrams blends adept physical comedy with deeper, mental issues while being wrapped in an absurdist blanket. I was completely engaged the whole time, having no clue where they were going to take it. It's hard to believe 30 minutes could fly by so fast. ... full review

Tattered Capes

james ferrero · June 17, 2019 certified reviewer
Tattered Capes takes the superhero formula and twists it in unexpected ways. Led by a fun cast of characters and anchored by terrific physical work, the lighter elements of the script are combatted by darker ones that you might not see coming. Much like an effective superhero story that you'd read or see.... full review

Klingon Tamburlaine

james ferrero · June 17, 2019 certified reviewer
Klingon Tamburlaine commits beyond 100% to its source material and treats the piece more seriously instead of just making it a one-note joke. The bits of humor throughout are well-timed (the dead body spraying mist might be the funniest bit I've seen so far this year at Fringe), and the actors all disappear into their various Klingon and non-Klingon roles.... full review

GRAIL PROJECT

james ferrero · June 17, 2019 certified reviewer
A fast-paced, bold reimagining of the Arthurian legends, Grail Project effectively blends humor, music, adept physicality, and a self-referential twist that reminds the audience not only of the stories, but of the myth we've created around them for centuries.... full review
