LA WEEKLY – “GO” declares Neal Weaver

BACKSTAGE – Jennie Webb writes “There are a lot of laughs in writer-performer Nancy Eng’s charming yet wonderfully graphic glimpse into a New York massage parlor…” and “… director Ernest Abuba keeps everything moving smoothly.”

LA FEMALE PLAYWRIGHTS INITIATIVE – Jessica Abrams blogs “Nancy Eng’s THE WOMEN OF TU-NA HOUSE is a moving and at times heart-crushing show…,” and “In the end, just like the Tu-Na House customers, everyone — sophisticated and naive Fringers alike — will leave feeling satisfied.”

THE EXAMINER – Bob Leggett
“Nancy Eng is an artist. That much is quite evident in this production, as she portrays eight very different characters…”, “… gutsy, raw and real.” and “– I recommend it!”

THE WORLD SOCIALIST WEBSITE – Richard Adams states “Very well directed by Ernest Abuba, these visitors from New York are a highpoint of the Fringe.”

Despite debuting on the WEST COAST before a packed crowd of five during the show’s preview performance at the 99-seat FringeCentral Mainstage of the Open Fist Theatre Company, THE WOMEN OF TU-NA HOUSE garnered glowing reviews and NY-based actress NANCY ENG received her HAPPY ENDING at the Hollywood Fringe Closing Awards Ceremony, held on June 24th when the show was named in BEST OF SOLO for COMBINED ARTFORM’S BEST OF HOLLYWOOD FRINGE 2012 @ THEATRE ASYLUM.

Shell-Shocked at hearing what she’d thought was the title of her show being announced on stage by Executive Producer and BEST OF HOLLYWOOD FRINGE 2012 Director MATTHEW QUINN, ENG was suspended in a State Of Disbelief as she accepted the accolades from those nearby. “Words cannot describe the feeling that washed over me when I realized what had just happened” said ENG, when finally convinced it wasn’t her imagination. THE WOMAN OF TU-NA HOUSE was indeed a WINNER and had been included among the shows selected for an EXTENDED RUN based on ARTISTIC MERIT, COMMERCIAL VIABILITY and DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL.

Created in hopes of bringing producers and productions together, COMBINE ARTFORM’S BEST OF HOLLYWOOD FRINGE 2012 @ THEATRE ASYLUM, provides selected shows the chance to develop, highlight and rise to the next level. Past winners of Best of Fringe have gone on to have successful fringe runs in other cities including The Next Best Thing (Nominated for a LA Weekly Award), as well as independent commercial successes like Pulp Shakespeare, currently running and up for two LA Weekly awards.
