In each other, they discover a curious friendship in an unlikely setting of enlarged sewing implements and a dapper burlap rabbit. The duo is pleased to present the Los Angeles debut of Button Wagon at ArtWorks Theatre as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. A silent film for a modern crowd, a tableau vivant of circus and sewing, Button Wagon is sure to tickle your soul, wiggle your toes, and entangle your mind with wonder. QUOTES:
“Intricate and unsettlingly beautiful.”
- Phil Cramer, Venue Coordinator, New Orleans Fringe Festival
“They have created a theatricality that the other New Circus groups are still searching for. Button
Wagon is strikingly visual, funny, different, and mesmerizing.”
- David Lichtenstein aka Leapin’ Louie, noted Lithuanian Jewish Cowboy Comedian

BIOS:
Ember - Ember split her childhood between conservative Kerrville, TX and new-age Mt Shasta, CA. Naturally flexible and 18 years old, she began training contortion at the San Francisco Circus Center. Here she pushed her craft for 7 years with Master Trainer Lu Yi and Mongolian coach Serchmaa Byamba. Her skillful and unique contortion act has traveled the world with repeated performances in German Variety Theatre and in Taiwan. Filmed as a commercial, a video of Ember stuffing herself into an impossibly small TV once towered
over Times Square on a 60’ “JumboTron” before glowing in countless homes between Primetime shows. Ember currently lives in a theatre in Peñasco, NM where she sorts her extensive button collection and
arranges her antique treasures.

Poki - Matthew ‘Poki’ is fascinated with illusions. A self-taught mime, balancer, and juggler, Poki uses object illusions to bring umbrellas, hoops, and giant sewing needles to life. His unique feats have been seen on stage at Ecole de Cirque, Bruxelles; at the Monkey Festival in Loudong, Taiwan; and on stage at The Santa Fe Opera
— to name a few. He met Ember and 2008 and collaborated twice with her before forming Button Wagon in 2010. In a brown-on-brown pop-top VW Vanagon, the duo putted between cities and states delighting
audiences in CA, OR, WA, CO, NM and AZ. When not performing, Poki enjoys silent films, riding a bicycle, and awkward conversation.
