WHAT: Poe-Etic License. A Cabaret Variety show, with poetry, music, song, and a clown dance. Three Poems, “The Bells”, “The Raven” and an ode to Bob Dylan, “Baltimore” a song about Poe, and “A Raven Dream” clown dance.

The world Premiere of “Poe-Etic License” is coming to the Hollywood Fringe. Edgar Allan Poe was an early advocate for mental health awareness and now more than ever the opportunity for audiences to come to the theater and experience the catharsis of facing our shadow is so essential. Through the lens of the macabre Poe, we offer a delight to the senses: With his signature poetry performed passionately, a hauntingly beautiful song about the mysteries surrounding his demise, a dash of comedy, dark humor and the exaltation of imagination in a clown dance.
Dr. Bobbs has been hooked on Poe’s more disturbing poems since taking American Lit class at Pacific Palisades High School, many decades later around 2010, he became inspired one day to perform some of those poems and has been doing so regularly for enthusiastic audiences ever since.
Though Dr. Bradley Bobbs is a Physicist specializing in Lazers by day, the rest of the time (except for a few hours between midnight and 4 am when he occasionally takes a brief rest) you will likely run into him at an event supporting his many creative and talented friends, giving physics lectures to laypeople or passionately performing poetry.
Alayha Aquarian produced and Hosted “PsychoDelicate’s Magical Mystery Comedy Show” in the 2018 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Dr. Bobbs attended Alayha’s show and so felt confident that she could Produce his show, that he had been wanting to bring to Fringe for some time. Other than performing and producing, currently in Alayha’s creative pipeline is “The Aquarian Family Circus Tour”, coming to an intentional community near you next year.
Paul Zollo is a singer-songwriter, author, music journalist and photographer. Born in Chicago, he’s a Trough Records recording artist with two solo albums: Orange Avenue (which features “Being In This World,” a duet with Art Garfunkel) and Universal Cure. His books include Songwriters On Songwriting (often called “the songwriter’s bible,” and the sequel [More Songwriters On Songwriting] as well as Hollywood Remembered, Schirmer’s Complete Rhyming Dictionary. In this show, he performs the song “Baltimore” about the mysterious death of Poe, co-written by Zollo & Darryl Purpose.
Catherine Allison performing as Poe in “A Raven Dream” with Alayha as the Raven, is a multi talented, highly experienced and trained, actress and clown.
