[Hollywood, CA 5-23-23] – Majority Joy Media is proud to announce the debut of “90’s Hip-Hop Raised Me: A One Woman Show” at the renowned Hollywood Fringe Festival. The show, written and performed by Malaika Jules, a stand-up comedian, writer, and former rapper, promises to take audiences on a nostalgic journey back to the golden era of hip-hop.

Directed by award-winning director Jamie Burton-Oare, known for her work with HBO and MVAAFF, “90’s Hip-Hop Raised Me” is a captivating exploration of neglect and abandonment set against the backdrop of the funky beats that defined the 90s. The show will transport viewers through pivotal years from 1995 to 2000, delving into the artist’s personal experiences and offering a unique perspective on a defining era of music and culture. There will be three performances: Saturday, June 10 @ 3:30, Friday, June 16 (Tupac’s Birthday) @ 9pm and Sunday June 25 @3:30. Tickets are $12 and available on at www.hollywoodfringe.org.

Malaika Jules, a ’22 American Woman Playwright Fellow with the Dramatic Question Theatre, NYC, brings a wealth of experience and authenticity to the stage. Having spent over a decade performing in both Los Angeles and New York City, as well as touring the United States and Europe, she has deep ties to the hip-hop communities in these cities.

The Hollywood Fringe Festival provides the perfect platform for “90’s Hip-Hop Raised Me: A One Woman Show” to captivate audiences and celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. As part of the nationwide commemorations, the festival will showcase this unique production, allowing attendees to relive the essence of the genre that has shaped generations.
