What the Reviews say about IT’S IN OUR BONES:

1. Review by VICTORIA VALDEZ

What I liked
I was truly impressed with the actors’ ability to perform and sustain such a high level of emotion for nearly the entire show. The casting was well done and performed by talented individuals. Hope to see more of them.
Really enjoyed and look forward to seeing more of Nicholas Buda’s work

What I didn’t like
I would have liked to know a little more about the Mom to have a better understanding of why things had turned out as they did. However, for being a short play, it left the imagination to fill in the blanks…which sometimes makes for a great conversation after the show.

My overall impression
For only 45 minutes, the raw emotions and disfunction were immediately evident. As the characters continued to reveal themselves and their experiences the anger and rage were clear, but you could still see the deep underlying love these sisters had for one another. They wanted to be understood by each other and maybe even receive acknowledgment which would give them validation. The story left me wanting to know more (..in a good way). I felt left to interpret what actually happened to their brother and Duke’s involvement. Was a genuinely carrying out his friend’s wish or did he too believe the folklore.

2. Review by DAVID LUCARELLI

What I liked
The performances were all strong. The slightly suspect handyman did a great job of playing his role in such a way that we’re never sure how on the level he actually is.

What I didn’t like
Perhaps in a more elaborate production, we could see the wolves’ eyes peering into the cabin, watching and waiting.

My overall impression
There is a dark and intense examination of the love-hate relationship between two estranged sisters, one who is mentally unstable, and the other who is desperately lonely, and are suddenly thrust together in isolation and forced to find what bonds them together.

What I didn’t like
Wanted more acts. More detailed but very well written. Wanted more about each character.
