THE SHAPE OF ME
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 12, 2022

What does self-love look like? A two-woman monologue show, THE SHAPE OF ME makes its World Debut at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2022 where the authors have set out to inspire others through their exploration of what self-love looks like in a world determined to make fat bodies the enemy. With humorous moments dappled throughout, The Shape of Me encourages thoughtful retrospection on the consequences of society’s standards of beauty. It seeks to challenge these standards and question prejudices and expectations of beauty whether a body is fat or thin. It also seeks to inspire its audience to tackle life’s challenges not just with grace and kindness, but to also open the door to self-love and acceptance even if the path to this brings tears and pain. The Shape of Me underscores that we have but one life and one body with which to experience life, and, it asks, How do you wish to live?

BIO
Amanda Lynne grew up in rural Illinois before driving off in her minivan to pursue her big dreams in Los Angeles. Her driving force is love and expressing the human condition as an actor. Amanda studied acting at Carthage College under the guidance of Eric Margerum before heading west where she learned from Gene Bua at Acting for Life and currently trusts Alan Feinstein as her acting coach. She has been described a “a force of nature” (her favorite compliment ever!) and is always reaching for the stars. When she’s not creating on stage or set Amanda stays very busy as a wife, mama, bookkeeper and member of her community. As a person who has always existed in a larger than average body the themes presented here are incredibly personal and important. She is delighted to stand next to her friend as they present The Shape of Me.

Vejune J. Baltrusaitis is a Los Angeles native. As a second generation Lithuanian, she grew up with the Lithuanian culture and language. Her bilingualism was a gift that would help her see different perspectives from an early age which became an advantage while pursuing various creative goals. Over the years, she has held various jobs ranging from retail to teaching to non-profit, but her current, and most important, job now is raising two little girls who are, also, bilingual. She also teaches 8th grade at Lithuanian School on Saturdays where she combines her literature lessons with Lithuanian history. Vejune is a UCLA graduate with a Bachelor’s in History and a Cal State, Fullerton graduate with a Master’s in American Studies. She has many interests including politics, photography, and making up silly songs, but her passion is writing and directing, both of which she has been doing since the age of nine, and currently has many little projects under her belt that can be found on Youtube. Vejune has always been curious about the world and eager to learn, not to mention being up for a challenge as is demonstrated by stepping out of her comfort zone to make her stage debut in the production of The Shape of Me.
