RELEASE: ‘BEST MUSICAL’ AWARD-WINNERS RETURN TO FRINGE WITH ANOTHER ORIGINAL MUSICAL COMEDY, POCKETS

Hollywood, CA – Robot Teammate is delighted to be returning to the Hollywood Fringe with another original musical comedy, POCKETS, premiering at The Broadwater Main Stage this June. The collective’s most recent production, TURBULENCE!, won Best Musical, Best World Premiere, Critics’ Choice, and A Little New Music’s Award for Outstanding Songwriting at the Hollywood Fringe in 2017 which led to an Off-Broadway run at SoHo Playhouse in New York City.

Set in the fictional British-ish kingdom of Crumpeton, POCKETS spins the tale of Bellamina Crumbledunk, a noble preteen, who becomes a pickpocket to win the attention of her overextended mother, the Duchess. With the Duke off fighting in the Royal Caribbean Crusades, Bellamina’s misadventures take her into the underbelly of society, where she accidentally becomes the leader of a criminal uprising, but will she have the heart to sabotage her mum’s well-laid plans for Crumpet Day? #CheckYourPockets for tickets to this fast-paced, funny, and touching period piece to find out!

The main cast features Robot Teammate, which includes Chris Bramante, Molly Dworsky, Branson NeJame, Kat Primeau, and Dave Reynolds. Book and lyrics by Robot Teammate, with Dave Reynolds serving as head writer, Directing by Paul Hungerford, and Choreography by Kat Primeau. The live band features Musical Director Branson NeJame, Christopher Sousa, Harrison Lee, and Sam Kirsch. The POCKETS poster was created by illustrator and artist Beverly Arce.

Founded in 2012, Robot Teammate has established itself as one of Los Angeles’ top musical comedy acts, wowing crowds by creating hundreds of improvised musicals based off of audience suggestions at UCB, Westside Comedy, LA ComicCon, and in festivals across the country. Additionally, Legendary Digital Network brought the Robots worldwide from 2016-2017 with Geek & Sundry’s weekly Twitch.TV show, Gather Your Party.

Inspired by their favorite improvisations, the collaborating machines have scripted three previous award-winning original musical comedies, TIMEHEART, THUG TUNNEL, and TURBULENCE!, forming “The T Trilogy.” Premiering the trilogy to sold-out audiences at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, the troupe received A Little New Music’s Award for Outstanding Songwriting in 2016 & 2017, and Best Musical, Best World Premiere, and Better Lemon’s Critics Choice Awards in 2017. They released the original cast recording of THUG TUNNEL on all digital platforms and received an Off-Broadway run of TURBULENCE! at the SoHo Playhouse in New York City in 2017.
