Ingersoll campaigned for Negro equality, supported the right of women to vote, opposed capital punishment and inspired the U.N. and the birth control pill.
His lectures attracted audiences in the tens of thousands, and before the advent of film and radio he was seen and heard by more Americans
than any man in our history
He was also the most outspoken foe of religion this country has ever known, and the father of America’s Golden Age of Freethought
