Los Angeles- Sew and Sew Productions with the Santa Monica Playhouse and the Hollywood Fringe Festival are thrilled to present Jack Fry’s most recent work, Einstein!. Einstein! was developed and workshoped during the Canadian Fringe Festival Summer Tour Season where Fry was honored with “Best Actor” of the London International Fringe Festival by the London Free Press, Ontario, Canada. This accolade coincides with other rave reviews such as CBC, Manitoba who says, “A very human look at much mythologized man… compelling and sensitively presented.” It was subsequently honored with two fringe picks by Ontario and Calgary fringe festivals.

Jack Fry’s Einstein! is a historic drama that examines and explores the battles and sacrifices of a younger, “pre-crazy” haired Albert Einstein. The show is set during Einstein’s earlier years in Berlin, as he struggles to prove his general theory of relativity and prove his relativity as a father in the backdrop of World War I. The year is 1914 and Albert Einstein awaits news from an eclipse expedition in hopes that it will prove his theory of general relativity. Instead, he is sent sideways as his world crumbles around him due to a myriad of reasons.

Einstein! is an inspirational and true story. Based on the recent release of 15,000 documents and three years of research, writer and performer Jack Fry shares insight into Einstein’s early life – a story that few people know. Among many things, this play highlights the trials we all face as individuals in a world that at times doesn’t want us to succeed. This is the dramatic true story that ushed in our modern technical age— the story that not only made his hair “crazy”, but aged him significantly.

With the 100th anniversary of general relativity, along with the recent discovery of Einstein’s gravitational waves and the instability that terrorism is bringing to our current world, makes this theatrical piece more meaningful than ever.

The show is directed by TV veteran Tom Blomquist, who wrote and directed television for 30 years and is now a tenured professor of film and television at California State University Long Beach.

Jack Fry’s first solo show They Call Me Mister Fry is a multi-award winning, critically-acclaimed, autobiographical show about his first year teaching 5th grade in South Los Angeles. It has played all over North America including multi performances in Mexico and Canada (misterfry.com)
