Heard but not seen, a jazz musician is the central figure in The Women of The Hat …a duet for one. The musician’s muses are his wife and daughter. Both are dancers, both are tethered to this absent man of their hearts. Like moths to flame, his alcoholism and talent draws both women dangerously close to their own destruction. A gold top hat from A Chorus Line, is one woman’s glorious salvation.

Melissa R. Randel (Rose/Ruth/Playwright/Choreographer) Melissa considers her years on Broadway in A Chorus Line , her true graduate school, and the creative team, her mentors. She is an active Los Angeles performance artist and playwright. Other original, devised works include This is Not a Tree, Asylum, and The Hat, which premiered at the NY International Fringe Festival 2013. David Gibson (Jazz Trombonist/Composer) David appeared in the two character version of this play, The Hat,at the NYC Fringe Festival production in 2013. Gibson performs regularly at a variety of venues in NYC, including Smalls, Smoke, Swing 46 and Fat Cat, with George Gee, Roy Hargrove, Captain Black Big Band, and his own DG 4tet, which is featured on two recent recordings released by Posi-tone Records. www.jazzbone.org
