We Can Be One: A Musical About Coming Home

Premiering at the 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival, “We Can Be One” takes viewers to an everyday American bar for an extraordinary theatrical experience.

Six talented young Los Angeles actors star in the musical, with the leads played by Malynda Hale and Michael Thomas-Visgar.

The show is the brainchild of LA-based singer/songwriter Jaeger Christian and marks his arrival on the LA music and theater scenes.

The premiere will be staged for five performances at Three Clubs, 1123 N. Vine, during the annual theater festival, running June 6-29.

SYNOPSIS

Four friends, two couples: a US Marine returning from Iraq, and the three friends planning his party. We meet our Marine at each airport layover as he transits home, and see the woman who loves him before she leaves for the airport. Young, in love, and all too human, the two couples confront the promise and heavy burden of coming home.

COMPOSER

“We Can Be One” is the premiere of Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Jaeger Christian. A world traveler and reformed government bureaucrat, he settled in LA in 2013 to produce and direct musicals he had composed. Audiences should expect exciting things from him in 2014, as he steps into the studio in July to record his first EP of original music. You can find out more about him at www.jaegerchristian.com

WRITING TEAM

For the dialogue, Jaeger Christian enlisted new-to-LA writer William J. O’Donnell, a University of Washington grad and former Seattle resident. The book is co-written by Jaeger Christian and William J. O’Donnell. This is their first collaboration and first Fringe Festival.

PERFORMANCES

“We Can Be One” will premiere with five performances at Three Clubs, 1123 Vine, Hollywood, CA. Because the musical is set in a bar, the classic venue is a perfect fit for the production.

Audiences will have the opportunity to hear the eight songs of “We Can Be One” in their entirety, plus two reprises with the full cast. The approximate length of the entire production is 65 minutes.

Performances are scheduled for the following dates:

Friday, June 9: 9 p.m.

Thursday, June 12: 8 p.m.

Sunday, June 15: 6 p.m.

Thursday, June 19: 8 p.m.

Tuesday, June 24: 4 p.m.

All actors are available for interviews in advance of and during the festival. Composer/director Jaeger Christian will be available before and after all performances.
