May 7, 2014 – Los Angeles – MAN’S DOMINION, a history in 10 characters done as a one-person show examines the 1916 lynching in Erwin, TN, of Mary, the elephant and star attraction of the Sparks Family Shows, an itinerant circus that toured the American Southeast and beyond for years. Written by Emmy and Cable Ace Award Nominated television writer-producer David Castro, MAN’S DOMINION is the first Hollywood Fringe show for the team at Pachyderm Productions. Tim Powell uses all of his 30 years acting experience to give voice to nine (9) of the witnesses and participants – including Mary – as Man’s Dominion resonates to the present day with such American and universal themes of man’s cruelty to animals; our capacity for religious intolerance; and the pervasiveness of racism. Directed by Dennis Neal, another veteran actor and director who was able to pour his own soul into the piece and make it live on stage almost one hundred years from the actual occurrence.
