Katelyn Schiller is an award winning actor, theatre artist, live entertainment designer, and digital illustrator. Schiller is a longtime Fringe fan and festival producer, and a fierce advocate against AI generation in the arts, fighting on behalf of human artists’ stolen works, rights, and recognition.
Schiller has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from Central Washington University, specializing in devised works, puppets, Japanese Noh theatre. Schiller has been performing on the front lines of the LA immersive theatre scene for the past decade, collaborating on hits like C(ovell), Drunken Devil, Cloak and Dagger, Grunge Shop Tavern, Sideshow, Safehouse ‘77, Safehouse ’82, The Pod, Tales by Candlelight: The Scent of Adventure, and Dragon Show. Katelyn Schiller performs live in virtual-reality (VR/XR), and a spotlight actor for the video game The Under Presents by Tender Claws. Schiller performed the first version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in VR, featured in the New York Times article; “Theater’s Next Act? A Show That’s All in Your Head”. Katelyn’s first solo show, Murder Blood Bear Story premiered in 2015 at the Hollywood Fringe, was nominated for “best solo show”, and went on to tour the New Orleans Solo Festival, Maui Fringe, and internationally to the Canadian Nanaimo Fringe; winning “best in festival” and “best performance”. In 2018 Laertes Loves Hamlet Loves Ophelia took home the Hollywood Fringe Award for “Best in Ensemble Theatre”. Fringe 2019 The Pod was nominated for “Best in Immersive Theatre”. In 2024 she returned with the sequel to the show that started it all, Murder Blood Bear Story: Part 2, this time armed with a giant bear puppet.
Schiller is currently Co-Artistic Director of the immersive theatre company Spy Brunch. She loves video games, Hayao Miyazaki movies, and Gordon Ramsay reality TV.
