From deep in the dark, tremulous mire of non-Euclidian dreamscapes and grasping tentacles, 20th century American writer H.P. Lovecraft’s impact on modern media is almost incalculable. From tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons, to video games like Bloodborne, to media darlings like Stranger Things, Lovecraft has shaped the way that we see fear as the “Father of Cosmic Horror” – the terror of coming face to face with the utterly unfathomable, and the existential dread in knowing you are completely insignificant amongst the vast and terrible cosmos. He was also so painfully racist he named his beloved black cat ******-Man.

This is a story of legacy and intention, of context and consequences, and of how much we’re willing to swallow.
