What I liked

All the individual pieces were strong and there was a good variety of comedy, drama, and music.
I was particularly impressed by Yoni Ki Kahaniya, which had been described as “Asian vagina monologues,” but that conjures up images of static, solitary performers delivering speeches to the audience whereas the showcased scene involved much more movement and interaction than I expected. Also the darkly comic scene from “Dream Big” intrigued me and left me wanting to see more.

What I didn't like

I did not appreciate one solo performer shouting and wailing at maximum volume into audience members’ faces and ears. I appreciate that you are classically trained and have impressive lung power but not everyone is into Theatre of Pain and sometimes emotion can be communicated at volume 7 just as effectively as at 11, especially in a setting this intimate.

I had cast members climbing over me four or five times during the show to get in and out of seats. I appreciate they wanted to watch the other performers but it would have been nice if they could have used the ample space behind the seats. Failing that, perhaps a row of seats could be reserved for performers.

And was it really necessary to keep everyone standing in line on the sidewalk until moments before the show started? Seemed like the cast of the previous show was out well before then, so why not let people in to take a load off?

My overall impression

I enjoyed the opportunity to see a curated collection of pieces from across the Fringe. Great for those without the time or money to see a lot of shows.
