What I liked

The writer was skillful in presenting different and contrasting points of view from the past and present, addressing gender issues that are still so relevant today. I loved the use of dress to emphasize the different time frames and the conceit of the actors admitting that they were imaginary constructs. The constant appearance of different amusing and provocative characters kept the audience involved.

What I didn't like

The complexity of this play made it a challenging piece but the director and actors pulled it off, almost flawlessly. I really have little critique to offer. Even the very wordy dialogue of the teacher came across clearly and effectively. Impressive!

My overall impression

This play lives up to all the intriguing adjectives used to describe it. It is funny yet educational, imaginative yet factual, informative yet wildly entertaining, provocative but gently so. The cast is perfect in each of their roles, and their use of amusing body language is as important as their flawless delivery of intelligent dialogue. The classroom setting with a pleasing variety of students only adds to the fun. The inclusion of vintage advertising images adds an hilarious subtext. I highly recommend this play and trust that it will find additional opportunities for production.
