What I liked

So many things! The group scenes were really incredible, I think that’s where the play and players really shine. The actors reeeeally were fleshed out, and the work they were doing even when the spotlight wasn’t on them made it all come alive. The actor who played Kenny, specifically, I could not take my eyes off of. He was so present, and fascinating to watch. There were many times I laughed out loud watching him doing whatever he was doing in the corner of the scene.

What I didn't like

I think that in LA, a lot of actors stay in the film world, even when they’re in a play. This production did fall into that a tad — the pace could have been slower and more present at times, and I wish there had been more on-stage body awareness. Had it been a film or series, I don’t think I would have noticed that at all. I do think this would be solved without the parameters of Fringe — like if it was a full production with all the time in the world. I will say, the main reason I noticed this is because the production was so good and enjoyable to watch, that when the pacing or film-ness took me out of it, I noticed.

My overall impression

This was a very well done production. It’s one of those shows that makes you think, “wow, Fringe can be really really good.” The writing was fantastic and funny, and so were the actors. They did so much with the space and time given. I hope it continues on.
