July 01, 2023What I liked
I liked the establishment of the “wonky rules” of the supernatural, and how that lent itself to several great comedic beats. The emotion between the actors felt very real and grounded in their truths of their characters and what they desire most.
What I didn't like
What could stand to be improved would be the writing overall. The delivery was well executed by the entire cast, but many of the lines do not seem to flow or connect with one another, leading to the occasional moments of confusion and awkwardness.
The time needed to establish key relationships was also lacking. I found that, while various time jumps themselves were not problematic, I did find that they skipped over much needed development for all of the characters. A longer runtime might have been helpful in this regard.
The resolution also seems to be unexplored, and without spoiling the ending, it appears that certain conditions change with very little explanation, taking away from what should be an otherwise heartwarming moment.
My overall impression
I enjoyed this show and the cute/tragic story hiding within. The actors were all very committed and let their talent shine in this production, as the show intrigues you with a promising and enticing premise.
