“Ladies First” is described as ’a one-woman show inspired by some of the stongest women of all time". Krisy Dennis plays 14 amazing and powerful women in the 20th century. Their original monologues are inspired by speeches, quotes, and interviews of these great women. Emmelline Pankhurst, the first suffragette from England, Nora Ephron, Katharine Hepburn and Billie Jean King are just a few of the inspiring female roles explored. Krisy also sings songs for each character by artists such as Alicia Keys, Kate Bush and Stephen Sondheim. The theme is female empowerment. The goal is to:
1) Educating women and young girls on women who have been successful or have contributed something great to society through, arts, science, entertainment, activism etc.
2) Empowering women who have been victims of sexual assault, domestic abuse, or who have come from cultures who still look at women as a second citizen or weaker than men to have a voice, that they are powerful and capable of greatness
3) Encouraging gender equality
