What I liked

From beginning to end this show is tight. The beats are perfect. The comedic timing is superb. The drama is heart wrenching. You can feel the love and respect Niek has for Tommy Cooper, and Sean Cowhig does an excellent job of framing the show resulting in a perfect piece of theatre. What does it feel like to be a living legend? How does a mortal man carry the weight of his own success? How and when does it all end? This show explores the joy of a performer, the bond between audience and talent, and the lonely, dark side of success. Niek Versteeg is Tommy Cooper in all his painful, hilarious glory!

What I didn't like

The piece itself is perfect. I want to see how this show expands and grows. If anything, I would get rid of “I Didn’t Let You Down, Did I” in the title. As a central motif of the show let the line speak for itself so that it carries its own weight when it appears in the show.

My overall impression

This is the best solo show I have ever seen! From the acting, the writing, and directing this show is an absolute must see! I haven’t laughed so hard in years. Do yourself a favor and run, don’t walk, to get tickets to this show.
