I loved that it was a true story and that the subject was in the audience. There was plenty of music, unlike in some musicals. It touches on several contemporary topics: love, sexual exploitation, gender, and survival in a global capitalist economy. It reminds me of great French novels about life in 18th Century salon society. The core of the show is an amazing transformation of a young woman who has extraordinary experiences so it really maintains your interest. It’s rare and wonderful to see women onstage in such non-stereotypical roles.
What I didn't like
Everyone sang well but perhaps the voices were sometimes overshadowed by the electric piano. Maybe lower the instrument’s volume to enable people to better hear the lyrics?
My overall impression
I really enjoyed it! It was one of the best and most professional shows that I’ve ever seen at the Fringe! The music was great and the diverse casting was refreshing! If you’re in the mood for a lesbian musical, rush to get tickets for the final show!
