This was a touching and heartfelt story brilliantly told. MaryLee is such a gifted writer and the actor and the story she told of the relationship she had with her father was beautiful and loving. She had me in tears by the end!... full review

I found this one woman show "Schmaltzy & Princie: Diary of a not-so-great Daddys Girl", so honest and real. The writing and characters took you along for a timeline that had you believing the characters were right there. The truthfulness was so easy to relate to. Indeed entertaining.... full review

This solo show is so sweet and tenderly told. It's a touching and heartwarming story of finding forgiveness and overcoming life's regrets. It was a pleasure to watch her take ownership of the stage and her performance. It feels an honor to get a peek into this special relationship between father and daughter. ... full review

I wasn't sure what to expect with this piece given the title. But, what unfolded before my very eyes was a story so many of us have experienced, the pressure of pleasing your parents. Characters were well thought out and each different. Great solo show! ... full review

The actress's presence on the minimal stage was impressive. She owned it. The story was relatable in many ways. As adult children we find ourselves looking back and examining our relationship with our family. As young artists who want to break out into the world of Hollywood and create but are thwarted by our daemons. Well written and beautifully acted.... full review

I was impressed and moved by MaryLee Herman’s writing and performance of "Schmaltz & Princie: Diary of a Not-So-Great Daddy's Girl." The staging was clever and inventive by director, Jessica Lynn Johnson. It was a raw and vulnerable story of the haunting voices that preoccupy a screenwriter or perhaps any creative artist. In the narrative of her goal to be a Hollywood screenwriter, she also reveals the tale of the relationship with her family, especially her father. This is accomplished in a heartwarming, charming, heartbreaking yet often humorous way. I highly recommend this one-woman show. It was a delightful way to fill an hour of my day. Do yourself a favor and go and see "Schmaltz & Princie: Diary of a Not-So-Great Daddy's Girl" at t... full review

I’ve seen a lot of solo shows that often feel self indulgent….Schmaltzy is the exact opposite! One of the most solo performances-grounded, down to earth, playful, and most importantly, very vulnerable. I found this show to be extremely relatable and some of the most genuine tears I have wept in a theatre in a while. ... full review

Ohmigod, this show was such a strong story, so relatable and MaryLee Herrmann masterfully transitioned between her various characters. It was funny, warm, heartbreaking and such a pleasure to watch. The audience was both laughing and by the end in tears and gave her a well-deserved standing ovation when she came out for her final bow. Wow! What a show. Highly recommended! One of the best Fringe shows I've ever seen, and I've seen Fringe shows in several U.S. cities. Don't miss this one! I'll go see it again. A real treat to see such an honest performance of such a deeply-personal story.... full review
