What I liked
I enjoyed getting to experience a culture that isn’t my own made familiar by the journey of the heroine Chai as she comes into her own and defines herself on her own terms. The music, the comedy, and the sparks between Chai and her family, her fiance, and the person her heart truly belongs to totally hooked me! The supporting cast, in particular Chai’s mother and the rapping narrator, shine as well. After so much time spent in isolation, it was a joy to see a group of performers passionately telling a story they were invested in. A true hidden gem of a show!
What I didn't like
I just wish they had a bigger venue. This show is a crowd pleaser, so the bigger the audience, the better.
My overall impression
A unique fusion of Bollywood sensibility with American Hip-Hop lyricism. Truly an original concept well executed. Strong performances and direction, along with a blazing fast under-60-minute runtime make this an awesome summer treat!
