What I liked

I was captivated with the dark beauty of the set, and loved the familliarity of religious and funeral elements intertwined with the representations of a tortured, poisoned, pained and indulgent life. The visuals (both set and tech) added just the right color and contrast to the story being told.

What I didn't like

I found myself slightly distracted by the “backstage” elements visible on set. Power cords, blood on tv and broken glass from a former showing/ rehearsal stand out in small stage settings with intensely focused audiences. I don’t hold it against the performance, but in a story that dives deep and causes the crowd to potentially question the beliefs they walked in with, there is a search for meaning in every element on stage. Keep the out of mind elements as out of sight as possible.

My overall impression

An intense existential perspective that flows through the dark and dirty fluids of life’s inherent despairs. Human pleasures stripped of softness and hair triggers with no safety. Don’t deny the darkness because the light of life can play tricks on the mind, depending on the filter through which it’s defined.
