I really enjoyed the show. It takes a lot to be one person on the stage and present the personality, characteristics, and emotions of all the people presented. It takes a lot to share your personal story and childhood to a crowd of people. When it is one person, the audience expects a lot. Alma made the emotions and feelings come through. Alma made the audience envision the people she talked about. She made you laugh, reflect on your own childhood adventures, and she made you cry in thinking about caregiver responsibilities that no one understands really unless you have been there. It is filled with moments that are both poignant and heartwarming (for example, when she tells us about the times when Honey used to reminisce about days gone by or when she took Alma on trips to exotic locales), and also moments that are heart-wrenching. Then to hear Alma tell us about how Honey wo... full review

My general impression was that Strong Like Honey is a thoughtful and poignant piece; an account of a portion of a dynamic woman's story. Her historical references were mesmerizing and I was thoroughly entertained. The story flowed from poignant to funny to heart-wrenching and ended on a note of strength.... full review

I am so glad I got to see Strong Like Honey. Alma is an amazing storyteller and solo artist. Her characters are so personal and distinct. I felt transported back in time. And rather than condemn those who were less than perfect in her upbringing, she shows deep compassion. It's a healing and heartfelt performance. ... full review
