What I liked

The interaction between the two actors felt as real as any sibling rivalry I have ever known! Perfect scenic design with 90s appropriate props (loved the see-through phone) assist in transporting you back to a much more innocent time. Ends appropriately with “I hope you have the time of your life” to get everyone dancing before it’s lights out and the sleepover ends. And you know what, I did!

What I didn't like

I would love to be able to attend this show in person when the coast is clear to do so!

My overall impression

Such a fun immersive show, even though I was way past middle school in the 90s! But I am sure all of us can remember our own trying times as young teens trying to figure out how to make friends and let someone we really liked know it. And how you loved to get your sibling in trouble! Such is the case thanks to Janson Lalich – writer, director, actor, and producer of THE SLEEPOVER -who presents Mikey as just nerdy enough to always torment his older sister Louise (Susan Louise O’Connor) whose diary he steals and starts reading to us. Such fun to play along with them as the show is presented on Zoom so audience members can be seen and heard, often asked to make decisions on which way the sleepover party should go. There were even a few times where breakout rooms took us into other parts of the house where each sibling shared secrets with us. This incredibly fun production would be a perfect in-person show, taking place in a small house where their parents could actually be seen leaving and we could be escorted into other rooms. So don’t be afraid to answer back, as these two actors are always ready to respond no matter what you might decide to share with them. It’s a perfect hour-long escape from the stress of today!
