Staging in a narrow space with the audience close on three sides worked really well and added to the sense of reality of the drama.
What I didn't like
The scene-ending black outs felt forced and sudden. I wanted a reaction between characters, a crescendo to the moment in front of us, then a dimming of the lights. The first scene’s end left me wondering if there was a power outage, rather than feeling it was a natural break in the drama.
My overall impression
billed as immersive, this production was introduced as “site-specific.” An intense, 4 character production and great ensemble work was magnified having it performed in the round in close proximity to the audience. Adult subject, highly recommend.
