Michael has such a unique style of storytelling. His 'off the cuff' style had me on the edge of my seat. He opens up his heart, as he goes through the few keepsake pieces that he could save from being destroyed in a fire. What a rollercoaster ride of emotions from the devastation of tragedy to the liberation of surrender to what is and choosing to live on the edge of sweet memories. ... full review

In the hustle of Fringe, BIRTHDAY offers such a personal and honest conversation about one man's experiences that have tested his resolve to keep going in search for that "larger than life" feeling we all get to experience so few times in our lives. And all of those events tend to coincide with past birthdays! One minute Ker has the audience roaring with laughter, and the next in hushed silence as we process his pain. ... full review

It was a touching and honest one man show about his life's peak experiences. Some events we will all have to go through, and they are often times muted or taboo. Death, depression, natural catastrophes. Some events we are all aware of but avoid bringing to surface. It is done with such spirit, vulnerability and humor. Cathartic. I highly recommend this show to anyone and hope, it will grow to be accessible to a large audience. Very talented storyteller.... full review

One of, if not, my favorite Fringe production thus far. Michael has a true and heart-wrenching story and does it with such finesse, he will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. This show is so intimate, personal, and lovely and it was refreshing to see someone spill their guts while performing instead of performing to "put on a show"...this is how art, in all forms, should be. He was a master at ending the stories at the right time and the transitions added so very much to the entire show..it was sincerely lovely. Please put this up again somewhere and tell me when!... full review

Wonderfully captivating and engaging from start to finish. Starting with waking up to the Woolsey Fire in Malibu and being evacuated from his home on a moments notice, he is somehow able to bring a comedic lightness to an otherwise devastating situation. Michael brings you in to his world of loss, love and celebration in his own heartfelt and comedic way that leaves you both laughing and crying. Each vignette or story threads together a beautiful picture; one of gratitude, awe, mystery, and love.... full review

GO SEE BIRTHDAY! I have seen many one person shows and this ranks as one of my all time favorites. Michael takes the audience on an emotional rollercoaster. You're laughing your ass off one minute and crying the next - and you love every minute of it. Michael is vulnerable on stage, and I can only imagine how cathartic it is for him, because it was cathartic for the audience. We are right there with him as he shares with us a year filled with unimaginable loss, but skillfully manages to never leaves us empty or sad. Michael seamlessly weaves in humor and hope and inspires us all to experience our lives honoring what we've lost but looking into the joy of our present. GO SEE THIS SHOW ! - you will never forget it. ... full review
