What I liked

Cindy Chavez and Christian Blake Splitt shine as the mother/son leads, and they really anchor this show to the spot. It’s such a heavy play, but they keep it uplifted with their characters emotional spirits and optimism. The writing from Aaron Kozak is great, splitting the audiences empathies for this woman struggling with her own life and losing her son. The two of them being outside of the church led to some very funny and entertaining moments, up until you learn the secret of who and why they are who they are.

What I didn't like

I didn’t fully get the ending, but that might be from not being very well versed in the story of Cain. I loved the imagery, but I can’t help but feel I missed some of the gravitas of the play.

My overall impression

A stirring and emotional piece about how far someone will go to take care of the ones who they love, and when faith isn’t enough to get someone through. Excellently acted and written.
