I liked seeing George H. Bush as a disappointed father who can’t keep up with the times rather than a Vice President. I liked seeing the rivalry and bromance between W. and Atwater. It’s cool to see icons played as regular human beings.
What I didn't like
Loved the multi media elements, would have like to see/hear more!
My overall impression
This show ran so smoothly. No hiccups and engaging from start to finish. Lucy Gillespie condenses and explains the complexities of campaigning in a way that any audience member can follow. Her writing humanizes larger than life historical figures and unveils their character in a relatable way. Great writing, great directing, great acting. Political theatre often revolves around idea, but Son of Bitch successfully makes politics about people instead of heady principles. Would see again.
