What I liked

The cast was great and really committed, the background actors all added something and were used well. The leads were likeable and talented, especially Angel the cat who has the one dramatic number in the show. The Dominatrix number is a real crowd pleaser and the best friend/neighbor gets some great laughs in the last half. It’s nicely directed for a show with so many entrances and exits, and there are some memorable musical numbers.

What I didn't like

The explanation and setup of the plot and some of the on the nose lyrics could be a bit stronger so we understand the story more going in. People not versed in some of the random references are going to miss the fun of it all. The Chainsaw Kitty actress is cute, but could bring more to the number, which is a pretty song that works a bit better in the movie. I wish some of the musical numbers progressed the story more.

My overall impression

A funny, wacky, over the top send up of horror movies, love stories, and our personal relationships with our pets. The cast is largely great, some with bigger personalities than singing voices, but there are standout songs and performances. While the plot is occasionally hard to follow and things happen without set up, that’s all part of the random fun which continues throughout and happens so fast it doesn’t much matter. It all makes sense in the end, has some great twists, and it’s an entertaining show to see for any cat lover… or hater.
