That ending. So surreal and unexpected. It was similar to an Andy Kaufman or Monty Python bit, I was in awe that it was happening at all.
Plus there are the stories of the books that is so delightful and strange and only because he had the books with him do I suspect the stories are true.
What I didn't like
I’m not sure Ed is sure what show he wants to do. He switches tones sporadically and changes characters without justification so often that we the audience are unsure what’s happening. But maybe he wants us off-balance. Maybe that’s the goal, maybe keeping us confused and on our toes is the only way the brilliant ending works…
My overall impression
There is a lot of gold to mine from this show. Sometimes the show gets in the way of the excavation efforts. But this show has so many good anecdotes and clever bits and a truly brilliant and surprising ending that I found it well worth my while.
