Absolutely loved the end. Was surprised how much it hit me. Elijah portrays Mickey Rooney in a fun, 3-dimensional, fair way. He does a great job slipping between all the different voices and accents, and had some great improv with audience interaction. The script was very well-written and smart, and I really appreciated how he painted Mickey Rooney as a full human without completely letting him off the hook. Elijah is hilarious and delivers all his jokes perfectly.
What I didn't like
I’d love if he would’ve played the actual clip from the movie after he did his impression of it, for comparison sake haha. I mean maybe everyone’s seen the movie except for me, so they didn’t need a refresher, but as someone who’s never seen it, I think it would’ve been fun to see how it went in real life.
My overall impression
Moving, funny, charming, smart meditation on race and representation in Hollywood
